Renata Lardelli - Founder of Lila Jasmine, Nurse, Midwife, and Mother
Hello,
I’m Renata the founder of Lila Jasmine and a Nurse, Midwife and mum to 3 wild but wonderful sons. I’ve worked in healthcare for almost 20 years, my career began as a paediatric nurse before I trained as a midwife and I currently have a gorgeous role at Waterford Birth Centre in Hamilton as a staff midwife.
Our journey into parenthood began in 2010 with our first son, Eli - as a paediatric nurse and midwifery student I believed I was well-prepared for motherhood however, the reality struck profoundly when I first held Eli sparking my dedication to educating women on the critical importance of the 4th trimester. I have a real passion for better preparing new and expectant parents on the realities of parenthood - this is where my passion lies so I teach an in-person and online 4th trimester workshop . My top 3 tips for preparing for the 4th trimester are;
- Read widely - become like a sponge.
- Prioritise your health - do you know how important sleep, food, water and exercise is for pregnancy, birth and the 4th trimester.
- Have a safety plan - for your pelvic floor, your mental health and your fridge.
The concept for our breast milk support product range emerged after the birth of our third son, inspired by a care package of raw muesli bars left on our doorstep by a friend, this thoughtful gesture not only touched my heart but also fuelled me—eaten during early morning school runs, in the afternoon when meals were missed, and during late-night feeds. This led to the creation of our own lactation bars which are aimed at offering convenient, tasty, and nutritious snacks for on-the-go mama. We worked with food technologists to craft a line of dairy-free lactation bars made with galactagogue-rich ingredients, now beautifully packaged for easy consumption anytime, anywhere.
