Sarah Horne - Anchor Me Postpartum

Sarah Horne - Anchor Me Postpartum

Sarah, please tell us a little bit about your background and experience in the pregnancy, birth, or postpartum field:

I was a specialist teacher for 12 years which provided me with an excellent platform to understand and assess client needs and build relationships quickly.
I then retrained as a Postnatal Professional and focused on maternal mental health. I believe that the birthing person is the cornerstone of the family unit and they require holistic, wrap-around support, in order to thrive.
I continually attend professional development on the latest best practise and bring this to my clients through tailored, in-home visits.

I work alongside local midwives and then step into the gap after LMC discharge. I stay with each whānau for as long as needed and until they feel confident to navigate this new phase independently but I’m always available for remote advice and guidance as required!

A brief introduction to your business, its mission, and the services you offer:
I am a Postnatal Thought Leader, of evidence based practice. I am an experienced practitioner in navigating the unchartered waters of new parenthood, plotting the course, co-constructing a pathway to sail forward, to manoeuvre through challenges such as learning your babies cues, your identity as a new parent, creating time and space for yourself and your primary relationship, understanding biological sleep needs, finding the flow in this sea change, breast and bottle feeding and supporting all aspects of maternal mental health.

I want to be the lead cheerleader in celebrating successes and pivotal milestones. Standing shoulder to shoulder with the family as they traverse the Matrescence with a trusted guide. I am able to share burdens, find solutions, build relationships and easily access further support if required.

My areas of speciality are:

  1. Maternal mental health
  2. The Matresence
  3. Physical healing & referral to the best specialists in the BOP
  4. Creating a basic routine for you and your baby
  5. Navigating your primary relationship
  6. Creating an authentic village of support
  7. Postnatal planning (done antenatally)
  8. Unpacking your birth story
  9. Unlimited remote support

A few sentences about your passion and commitment to supporting expecting and new mamas during their journey:

Anchor Me Postpartum is a premium postnatal support agency based in The Bay of Plenty.  I am a highly skilled practitioner that will build a firm relationship with you first and foremost and then anchor you while you learn to navigate the waves of the postpartum. Each postpartum journey is unique and will be treated so.

Prescriptive and one-size-fits-all approaches are not where I’m aligned.
I believe in diverse, evidence-based, mother-centric strategies as the cornerstones of my practice.

I will hold, educate and chart your course within these unfamiliar waters. I will ensure strategies used are tailored to you and the needs of your family. Nothing is off limits, confidentiality and trust is vital to my practice.

My 22+ years of experience, professional development, education and training means I am at the forefront of current best practice and able to bring that directly into your home.

    Stana's Postpartum Unfiltered

“I gave myself all the permission I had to rest and take it easy.
Letting others do simple things like emptying the dishwasher or hanging out the washing was mentally hard but I truly believe that rest set up a strong foundation for the rest of my first year postpartum.”

Stana shares with us her honest experience recovering from a belly birth, with scar massage, unexpected sensitivities, baby-wearing aches, and the strength it took to actually stop and let herself heal.

If you're in the thick of it or reflecting on your own journey, her story is a powerful reminder: rest is not a luxury, it’s essential.

I'm much better at embracing my body after my 2nd baby. Just letting go of a lot of expectations and trying to enjoy the smaller things and not forcing myself to do anything just to conform to society.

  • Amber's Postpartum Unfiltered

    Amber's Postpartum Unfiltered

The worst thing about the postpartum days for me was the wondering when I’d ever get “Amber” back. The best part was finally accepting that “Amber” is everything she always was, but now she’s also a mother - which is the hardest/greatest/most terrifying adventure she’s been on yet..
